Overview

The Benefits Administrator will focus on benefits and health and wellness administration, supporting the Benefits and Compensation team, and assisting the Human Resources department, as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in building his/her career in benefits administration and working on Human Resources competencies in a collegial, collaborative, and intellectually engaging nonprofit work environment. This position reports to the Director, Benefits and Compensation, and will work closely with the Associate Director, Benefits and Compensation.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

Benefits

  • Assist with comprehensive employee benefits programs, including scheduling benefits orientation, creating benefits packets, collecting and tracking paperwork, processing enrollments and changes, conducting internal audits, preparing and running reports, benefits filing, and completing government form filings for specified plans.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment processes, including tracking responses and following up with employees.
  • Assist with large mailings, including conducting mail merges and stuffing envelopes.
  • Maintain and update benefits information within Human Resources and on the intranet.
  • Interact with employees to answer general benefits questions and escalate complex questions to the Director, Benefits and Compensation or the Associate Director, Benefits and Compensation, as needed.


HRIS

  • Maintain HRIS system and enter all data for hires, terminations, and job changes.
  • Liaise with Finance department on payroll processing questions, discrepancies, and timelines.
  • Assist with preparation of data for mid-year and year-end processes such as open enrollment, ACA reporting, W-2 health care reporting, and annual tax limit changes.
  • Process bills on time and track all payments.


Health and Wellness/Other

  • Assist with events such as the annual health fair, flu shot program, and health and wellness program kickoff.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years related human resources experience with a focus on benefits administration
  • Degree in a related field with high academic achievement
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through skills required
  • Strong Microsoft Word skills, required (including mail merge)
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, required (including basic formulas)
  • Excellent computer skills, including HRIS; experience with ADP strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple priorities
  • Ability to work well independently and as a proactive and collaborative member of the Human Resources team
  • Excellent judgment and discretion
  • Strong customer service skills; flexible and positive attitude
