  • Overview

    The headquarters for the Council on Foreign Relations is housed in the historic landmark Harold Pratt mansion as well as the state-of-the-art Peterson Conference Center. This combined space is used for several hundred Council meetings a year and is one of the most sought after locations in Manhattan to rent for corporate meetings, conferences, weddings, and other special events.


    This position will be part of the facilities team and will work as part of a team to ensure smooth execution of events. 

    The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

    • Assisting with logistics prior to an event, such as checking on furniture set up, overseeing that rooms are properly cleaned and restrooms are stocked, and monitoring temperature set points
    • Managing the load in and load out of vendors such as caterers, florists, and photographers; including giving them direction and ensuring they are following CFR’s vendor procedures
    • Assisting with the physical setup and breakdown of event rooms upon request, including furniture, a/v equipment, and lighting
    • Assist with maintenance projects upon request
    • Providing post-event reports upon request
    • Standard hours are Wednesday through Sunday, 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.


    • Prior experience in facilities, events, or hospitality
    • Outstanding professional demeanor and customer service skills
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Strong verbal and written skills
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively work on a team as well as independently
    • Highest level of dependability and punctuality; proactive, flexible, and positive attitude required
    • Ability to handle heavy lifting in excess of 70 pounds (such as event furniture)
    • Availability to work a flexible and varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, as well as in the event of inclement weather
    • Basic mechanical skills are a plus
