  • Overview

    The Security Analyst is responsible for performing all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. The position requires a dedicated, analytical, proactive technologist with strong interpersonal and project management skills. This position reports to the Deputy Chief Technology Officer.

    The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

    • Monitor and analyze a broad range of Intrusion Detection Systems to identify security issues for remediation
    • Recognize potential, successful and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises through reviews and analyses of relevant event detail and other information
    • Communicate alerts regarding intrusions and compromises to the network infrastructure, applications, and operating systems
    • Ensure security systems are properly functioning and are updated and optimally configured for the environment
    • Ensure the integrity and protection of the network, systems, and applications by the technical enforcement of organizational security policies though monitoring of vulnerability scanning devices
    • Participate in the evaluation of firewall and other infrastructure changes and assist in the assessment of organizational risk
    • Perform computer security incident response activities, record, and prepare incident reports
    • Assist with implementation of counter-measures or mitigating controls, and security systems as threats evolve based on strategic choices made by the organization
    • Assist in periodic and on-demand system audits and vulnerability assessments, including user accounts, application access, phishing, file system, and external web integrity scans to determine compliance
    • Participate in special projects and contribute security considerations for new initiatives 
    • Evaluate new and proposed products and solutions for organizational risk and maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies
    • Other duties as assigned


    • At least two years of experience in implementing, administering, and maintaining security systems including IDS/IPS, SIEM, PKI, application white listing, proxy servers, malware sandboxes, anti-virus and vulnerability scanning
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, professional training or work experience
    • Experience securing Windows networks through metrics-based security and utilization of various layered defenses, SIEM solutions and industry-standard tools 
    • Experience securing cloud services such as AWS, Azure, and Office365 preferred. CISSP-ISSAP, ISSEP, CISA and CCSP certifications a plus
    • Ability to work flexible hours upon request, as well as working on-site during these times if the problem requires it
