Overview

CFR’s volunteer internships give selected volunteer interns the opportunity to receive training in the area of foreign policy; as well as skills training in areas such as writing, research, and program planning.

 

The volunteer intern will enhance their research, communication, writing, and editing skills and learn about the use of social media to disseminate information/marketing. The intern will gain knowledge of issues relating to international trade, economic policy and competitiveness, and other themes under CFR's Renewing America initiative.

 

CFR volunteer internships are unpaid, require a 16- 21 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.

 

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Research topics related to international trade, U.S. economic competitiveness and economic policy, and other themes under CFR's Renewing America initiative.
  • Write memos and research briefs.
  • Perform data analysis and collection.
  • Assist in note taking at meetings.
  • Assist in staffing roundtables and meetings, as needed.
  • Assist in marketing and outreach efforts for publications and reports.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate student with a concentration in economics, international relations, political science, or related field.
  • Prior internship, research, or administrative experience.
  • Experience with economic and trade date and economic issues.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Bloomberg terminal skills a plus.
