Help Desk Technician



The Help Desk Technician will act as the Council’s computer services help desk operator as a member of the Information Services team, with potential for growth within the team.   

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide first tier technical support on client software. 
  • Report potential problems in computer network systems, application software, or any other Information Services (IS) operations to the attention of IS management. 
  • Assist in all IS projects, including software and hardware installations and upgrades, operating reorganization projects, monthly maintenance, and wiring. 
  • Provide scheduled technical support on off-hours (evenings, weekends, early mornings, and holidays) as required.  This duty is shared by all IS staff and occurs once every three months. 
  • Maintain software and hardware inventories. 


  • Degree and/or certifications in a related field with strong academic performance preferred 
  • A minimum of one year of related work experience in a service oriented position 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Network Operations experience a plus 
  • Familiarity with desktop operating system and network architecture 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently with proven ability to problem solve 
  • Exceptional organizational skills, along with strong follow-through and attention to detail  
  • Flexibility to work between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. with additional hours as needed. Preferably 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. 
  • Travel to the New York City office 1-2 times per year 
  • Ability to be on-call for weekend technical support and, if necessary, come into the office to resolve system problems (Approximately once every 11 weeks) 
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds in weight
