Overview

The Council on Foreign Relations is seeking a UI/UX Designer to provide project support for various design needs across the digital organization. This position reports directly to the Director, Design & User Experience. In this position, you will be collaborating and working alongside the think tank, editorial, product, and technology to define the experience across CFR.org.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Participating in the product ideation, conceptual development, and creation of site verticals, interactives, and microsites across a responsive platform
  • Facilitating design communication across a multidisciplinary team throughout each phase of a project, clearly articulating design rationale.
  • Creating high and low-fidelity prototypes to quickly visualize, sketch, and communicate solutions to complex design problems
  • Maintaining and assisting in the evolution of the CFR visual style guide and ensuring that all work adheres to brand guidelines
  • Keeping abreast of trends and seeking ways to apply new UI/UX principles
  • Designing with a focus on the fine interface and interaction details

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three to five years of creating digital user interface designs, experiences, services, and/or applications
  • Portfolio demonstrating a solid understanding of interactive design formats and methodologies, including wireframes, annotations, flows, and user interactions
  • Portfolio demonstrating a strong grasp of design as it relates to online content, web, and mobile apps, including wireframes, annotations, and user flows
  • Ability to engage with others in an environment of learning and constructive dialogue
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work, adhering to critical project timelines
  • Professional-level knowledge of industry-standard design software
    (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
  • Interest in current events and foreign policy, a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field preferred
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS

Pay Range

$75,000 to $95,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
