Overview

The Assistant Director, Event Management, will help oversee the daily operations of the Event Operations team based out of the New York office. This is an onsite role.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Execute event logistics day-of for daily Council events including overseeing room setups, working closely with catering personnel, and making sure audio visual requirements are met. Daily Council events are held all in-person, all virtual, or in a hybrid setting.
  • Function as lead planner for major and high-level Council conferences, workshops, and symposiums as assigned by the Director and the Deputy Director, Event Management and Operations including timeline production, menu planning, equipment rentals, etc.
  • Partner with key programming departments in planning major and high-level Council events.
  • Work closely with the Deputy Director, Event Management and Operations in finalizing event logistics for daily Council events and managing the Event Calendar.
  • Supervise the department's Event Coordinator.
  • Support the rentals team with responding to inquiries, conducting site walkthroughs, booking, and serve as main point of contact for the space on the day-of the rental event including working closely with high-level corporate clients.
  • Provide and uphold a courteous, positive, professional, and cooperative attitude with the staff, vendors, and guests by phone, email, and in person.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, event management, or communications preferred
  • Five or more years related experience; hotel/banquet, catering and/or corporate event experience strongly preferred
  • Proven experience in managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and excellent time management skills
  • Excellent administrative skills with high attention to detail
  • Outstanding customer service, verbal and written communication, and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Ability to lift equipment and furniture

Pay Range

$73,000 to $78,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
