Overview

CFR’s Blavatnik and Robina Franklin Williams internships give selected interns the opportunity to receive training in the area of foreign policy; as well as skills training in areas such as writing, research, and program planning.

 

The intern will work with the Geoeconomics team to assist with the goal of providing informed expert analysis for the policy and diplomatic communities.

 

CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.

 

CFR’s summer internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis. 

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Tracking the news in the world of geoeconomics, including weekly email reports. 
  • Contributing to drafting, editing, and analysis of materials for the team, including newsletters and social media posts.
  • As needed, assisting with other tasks surrounding additions and changes to other Geoeconomics department projects.
  • Attending general Council meetings and other programs on foreign policy issues, as time permits.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or graduate student, majoring in international relations, economics, applied economics, political economy, or a related field.
  • Relevant research experience, as well as an interest in teaching, Model UN, simulations, and/or education a plus.
  • Previous research or internship experience welcomed but not required.
  • Stong attention to detail and resourcefulness
  • Strong research skills.
  • Statistical programming skills preferred but not required. 
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
