Overview

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) creates innovative educational resources that seek to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and perspective—the global literacy—required to understand the forces, ideas, and institutions that shape today’s world. These resources include CFR Education multimedia explainers and simulations. Each resource comes with companion teaching resources and activities appropriate for a specific target audience, be it high school teachers, college professors, and/or their students.  

 

The Program Assistant, Education, is responsible for supporting the work of the Vice President, Education, and the Education department.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

●      Assist with logistics for Education department meetings, including scheduling, drafting invitations, sending and monitoring event invitations, making catering arrangements, and conducting follow-up.

●      Process and assist with budget allocations and budget transfers and prepare Education AMEX reports and reimbursement vouchers for the Vice President of Education.

●      Act as a liaison between the Education and Finance departments to ensure the timely processing of invoices to and from vendors and independent contractors.

●      Work with the Finance and Legal departments and the Vice President of Education to ensure all contracts with vendors and independent contractors meet CFR requirements.

●      Maintain a database of invoices and receipts, vendor agreements and financial statements, budget burndowns, and other necessary documentation to maintain the department's functions.

●      Support the research and editing of memorandums on vendors, competitors, and potential partners for the Vice President, Education.

●      Plan trips, including arranging travel, building itineraries, and preparing briefing documents.

●      Draft internal and external correspondence and documents, such as weekly reports, board updates, and responses to general inquiries.

●      Provide occasional note-taking and strategic planning support (outreach, background research).

●      Provide general assistance as needed (provide printouts, give background materials for meetings, scan documents).

●      Support CMS and content uploading to the CFRE website.

●      Assist with additional administrative duties as needed for departmental functions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, political science, and/or journalism with high academic achievement preferred
  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite programs
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Interest in international relations preferred

 

Pay Range

$55,000 to $58,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
