Overview

The Council on Foreign Relations’ DC office is located just one block from the White House. It is home to a state-of-the-art conference center and is used for several hundred meetings a year. It is also rented for numerous rental events each year. The Event Coordinator will provide support to the Event Operations team based out of the Washington, DC office.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage event logistics for CFR and rentals events.
  • Partner with event stakeholders (facilities and audio visual staff) and work closely with event leads on managing timelines, menu planning, room setups, audio visual needs and serve as the day of event planner for events in person, virtually, and hybrid which can require early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
  • Coordinate the audio visual and logistics for virtual events including operating events, creating virtual events, ensuring proper details are captured, and running the event from start to finish.
  • Provide administrative support to the Event Management team on a variety of new and existing projects and challenges that come up including event scheduling, catering, and client relations.
  • Provide and uphold a courteous, positive, professional and cooperative attitude with the staff, vendors, and guests.

Qualifications

  • Degree in hospitality, event management, communications or marketing preferred but not required.
  • 2+ years related experience; corporate hotel/banquet, catering and/or event experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong administrative experience including the ability to manage multiple priorities on deadline.
  • Outstanding customer service, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • As this role is designated as essential personnel the availability to work flexible hours upon request, including early mornings, late evenings, and during periods of inclement weather is required.
  • Ability to lift equipment and furniture.

Pay Range

$55,000 to $65,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
