Overview

The Assistant Director, Board of Directors and Special Projects Management will report directly to the Managing Director and Secretary of the Corporation, and work closely with other staff across CFR. The individual in this position will assist in coordinating all matters related to the Council’s Board of Directors, as well as support—both administratively and substantively—the management of a variety of other projects as assigned.

 

Qualified candidates will have related experience that required interaction with senior executives, strong written and oral communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, the ability to take initiative and prioritize, sound judgment, and the highest level of discretion.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Work with the Managing Director and Secretary of the Corporation, assist in all aspects of managing CFR’s Board of Directors, including preparation for and execution of board meetings, day-to-day management of a variety of critical administrative functions related to the Board, and other activities essential to the effective and responsible governance of the organization.
  • Help to coordinate the overall activities of the Managing Director and Secretary of the Corporation, to include prioritization of action items, management of a wide variety of concurrent efforts, and direct support in the execution of these projects.
  • Draft high-quality research materials, correspondence, memoranda, and other documents related to the responsibilities of the Managing Director and Secretary of the Corporation.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with those in the primary departments within the Council for which the Managing Director and Secretary of Corporation shares responsibilities, including—but not limited to—the Executive Office, the Studies Program, and Washington External Affairs teams.
  • Perform scheduling and general administrative tasks as needed.

Pay Range

$68,000 to $75,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education

Qualifications

  • BA in a relevant field, along with an interest in foreign relations
  • Four to five years of related work experience, including the oversight and coordination of a variety of activities in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking and the meeting of deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication abilities, both across departmental lines and with high-profile and senior executives;
  • Strong research, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented self-starter who can work effectively, both independently and collaboratively with other parts of the organization.
  • Team player with a positive and flexible attitude
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the aptitude to learn and utilize different technologies
