Overview

The Council on Foreign Relations is seeking a Senior Manager of Analytics and Insights to join our digital team. This role will lead the efforts to infuse data into decision-making processes, providing insights that drive audience engagement, platform growth, and the overall impact of CFR. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analytics with a passion for leveraging data to inform and enhance content and product decisions.

 

Reporting to the Director, Digital Operations, this position will collaborate and work alongside the think tank, content, product, design, and technology teams to help shape our approach to data analysis and insights.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Strategic Data Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive analytics strategy that supports CFR’s mission to become an essential destination for foreign policy context and analysis.
  • Performance Analytics: Standardize, then monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for CFR’s digital platforms, content, and campaigns. Provide actionable insights to optimize engagement and user experience.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Collaborate with digital, content, and product teams to infuse data into content strategy, product development, and marketing initiatives. Use insights to guide editorial decisions, audience targeting, and platform enhancements.
  • User Segmentation: Identify user segmentation models for growth in audience engagement and loyalty. Conduct user surveys, A/B and multivariate tests, and identify trends and opportunities.
  • Collaboration & Reporting: Develop an executive dashboard, and present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and key stakeholders across CFR. Collaborate with teams across the organization to set goals and measurement strategies, and ensure data is integrated into strategic planning.
  • Technology & Tools: Evaluate and implement advanced analytics tools, technologies, and methodologies to ensure CFR’s analytics capabilities remain cutting-edge and aligned with industry best practices. Ensure analytics uptime by implementing and monitoring safety mechanisms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 5+ years in digital analytics, preferably in the media or publishing industry.
  • Experience presenting analytics findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in business intelligence (BI), website usability, user-experience optimization, conversion rate optimization, and familiarity with agile development methodologies, web analytics testing, and product management.
  • Expert knowledge of GA4, Looker Studio, and Google Big Query or SQL.
  • Proficiency in Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, Core Web Vital Metrics, and Google Ads.
  • Experience with Sailthru or similar EMS, and Supermetrics or equivalent data tools.
  • Understanding of social media analytics (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in statistics and probability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Pay Range

$95,000 to $120,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
