It is published by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), which is a leading independent, nonprofit membership organization and nonpartisan center dedicated to producing and disseminating foreign policy ideas. 

 

This position is located in New York on a hybrid basis. CFR currently defines hybrid as working at least three days a week onsite, with Tuesdays and Thursdays considered institutional anchor days where all staff are required to be onsite. CFR’s hybrid schedule is subject to change. 

Position Summary

Foreign Affairs is seeking an organized and proactive Editorial Operations Assistant to provide administrative support to the editorial operations function. The Editorial Operations Assistant ensures the editorial team has the resources and information it needs. 

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist the Editorial Operations Manager with general administrative tasks 
  • Act as administrative assistant to members of the editorial leadership 
  • Provide administrative support for the broader editorial team, including scheduling, booking travel, handling correspondence, and responding to requests for information 
  • Coordinate the contract process for authors and payments 
  • Request review copies and managing the process of supplying regular reviewers with books 
  • Keep track of the review process of unsolicited manuscripts 
  • Act as note-taker during editorial meetings 
  • Perform any other duties or tasks as assigned or required 

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree

Related Skills & Other Requirements 

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills 
  • At least one year of administrative support experience 
  • Strong computer skills

Compensation and Benefits

  • The full-time annual compensation range for this position is $59,000 - $62,000 depending on experience.
