The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) creates innovative educational resources that seek to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and perspective—the global literacy—required to understand the forces, ideas, and institutions that shape today’s world. These resources include CFR Education multimedia explainers and simulations. Each resource comes with companion teaching resources and activities appropriate for a specific target audience, be it high school teachers, college professors, and/or their students.

 

The Program Assistant will support and help coordinate multimedia development and production for both editorial and marketing projects. This full-time position is based in CFR’s New York office on a hybrid basis. CFR currently defines hybrid status as working at least three days a week onsite, with Tuesdays and Thursdays considered institutional anchor days where all staff are required to be onsite.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Conduct thorough editorial research to support the drafting and production of educational resources
  • Perform photo/video research to gather imagery for educational resources
  • Work with data to produce engaging charts, maps, interactive visuals and other multimedia assets
  • Develop and pitch ideas for new multimedia projects
  • Design marketing and promotional collateral with Adobe Creative software
  • Assist with video shoots and support post-production editing to ensure high-quality content delivery
  • Organize, manage, and maintain digital asset files, ensuring accessibility and proper archiving.
  • Upload, edit, and maintain content within the content management system (CMS) for the CFR Education website, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, political science, and/or journalism

Experience

  • Professional experience with multimedia production and data visualization preferred

Related Skills & Other Requirements

  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Adobe Creative programs
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Interest in international relations preferred

Compensation and Benefits

  • The full-time annual compensation range for this position is $55,000– $58,000, depending on experience.
