CFR’s Blavatnik and Robina Franklin Williams internships give selected interns the opportunity to receive training in the area of foreign policy; as well as skills training in areas such as writing, research, and program planning.
The intern will work with the Africa studies team to assist with the goal of providing informed expert analysis for the policy and diplomatic communities.
CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.
CFR’s summer internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis.
The Council on Foreign Relations’s award-winning Digital Content department creates a mix of resources including a daily newsletter, in-depth explainers, timely analysis, interactives, podcasts, and videos. The team works closely with CFR experts to bring users insight on the most pressing foreign policy issues. The Assistant Copy Editor/Writer will work under the direction of the CFR Digital team’s copy editor and deputy managing editors.
CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks, with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program’s aim is to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions.
As part of the Studies Program, the research associate will work under the direction of a senior fellow on projects related to Japanese studies.
The Director of Event and Audio Visual Operations will oversee event activity and audio visual operations at a state-of-the-art event and conference space in New York and Washington, D.C. Events range from conferences to social events and film shoots. The position reports to the Managing Director of Facility, Event, and Security Operations. This position will be based onsite.

The Senior Building Engineer, Facility and Event Operations will work in CFR’s Facility Operations department, and report directly to Deputy Director, Building Operations.
This is a full-time position, and the hours of this position are Sunday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Monday through Thursday 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. However, this position is considered essential personnel, and will be expected to work flexible hours upon request.

This is an excellent opportunity to create, execute, and monitor business strategies with impactful financial results. As part of a team, reporting to the Circulation Operations Director, you will maintain and expand our content partnerships in multiple channels including audio, international editions, aggregator services, and other print publications.
