All who are selected to participate in CFR’s Blavatnik Internship Program and Robina Franklin Williams Internship Program receive training in the field of foreign policy and international affairs as well as skills training in writing, research, program planning and much more.   The intern will have the opportunity to conduct research on current foreign policy topics while helping to create a new series of educational materials. By actively participating in this project, this intern will gain a deeper understanding of several current foreign policy topics, their related debates, and a range of credible sources for accurate information. The intern will also participate in learning how to creatively educate a diverse audience on these particular topics.   CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.   CFR’s fall internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis.

Corporate members include nearly 200 U.S. and non-U.S. firms representing a wide range of business sectors, including financial services, law, manufacturing, consulting, technology, media, and others. Each year the program hosts over 70 events in New York and Washington.   CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.    CFR’s fall internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis.

CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program aims to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions.   The Center for Preventive Action (CPA) seeks to help prevent, defuse, or resolve deadly conflicts around the world and to expand the body of knowledge on conflict prevention. It does so by creating a forum in which representatives of governments, international organizations, nongovernmental organizations, corporations, and civil society can gather to develop operational and timely strategies for promoting peace in specific conflict situations. The Center focuses on conflicts in countries or regions that affect U.S. interests, but may be otherwise overlooked; where prevention appears possible; and when the resources of the Council on Foreign Relations can make a difference. The Research Associate will work under the direction of the director on projects related to conflict prevention and crisis areas within the Center for Preventive Action.

Founded in 1922, Foreign Affairs is published by the Council on Foreign Relations, which is a leading independent, national membership organization and nonpartisan center for scholars dedicated to producing and disseminating foreign policy ideas. Foreign Affairs publishes insightful commentary on global politics, diplomacy, and economics from experts with a wide range of views.   The Director of Marketing is a critical position on the Foreign Affairs Business Team. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer of Foreign Affairs, this person will oversee all consumer marketing, event and content promotion across web, email, and traditional mail channels. Working closely with the product team and central email resource, they will have a chance to drive the strategy, creative and audience for a wide variety of marketing campaigns for an influential and highly respected publication. This position has one direct report.

CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program’s aim is to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions.   The Analyst will work in the Maurice R. Greenberg Center for Geoeconomic Studies (CGS), the part of the Studies department that focuses on the intersection of international economics and international relations. We expect that he or she will report to and primarily collaborate with the senior fellow and director of international economics. The balance of his or her time be spent working with other CGS fellows.   This is an exceptional opportunity for a creative, rigorous, quantitatively oriented mind to develop original ideas and to analyze important questions at the intersection economic policy and foreign policy. Recent holders of the position have gone on to high-responsibility positions in investment banking and central banking as well to top graduate school programs. Accommodation for part-time graduate school study may be available, subject to CFR agreement.

The Assistant Building Engineer, Facility and Event Operations will work in CFR’s Facility Operations department, and report directly to Deputy Director, Building Operations.   This is a full-time position, and the hours of this position are Monday through Friday 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  However, this position is considered essential personnel, and will be expected to work flexible hours upon request.
