Interns selected to participate in CFR’s Blavatnik Internship Program and Robina Franklin Williams Internship Program receive training in the field of foreign policy and international affairs as well as skills training in writing, research, program planning and much more. The intern will support the work of the Greenberg Center for Geoeconomic Studies in its work to promote a better understanding of how economic and geopolitical forces interact to shape the world.   CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.   CFR’s fall internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis.

CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program aims to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions.   Founded in 2000, the Maurice R. Greenberg Center for Geoeconomic Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations works to promote a better understanding among policymakers, academic specialists, and the interested public of how economic and political forces interact to influence world affairs.   The Assistant Director will work under the direction of the Distinguished Fellow for Global Economic Policy and Director of the Greenberg Center on Geoeconomics on projects related to CFR’s cross-cutting work on the global economic order.

It is published by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), which is a leading independent, nonprofit membership organization and nonpartisan center dedicated to producing and disseminating foreign policy ideas.   Foreign Affairs is looking for a senior editor to join our editorial team. This position is located in New York on a hybrid basis. CFR currently defines hybrid as working at least three days a week onsite, with Tuesdays and Thursdays considered institutional anchor days where all staff are required to be onsite. The Council on Foreign Relations is creating innovative educational resources, which seek to equip students and the interested public with the skills, knowledge, and perspective—the global literacy—required to understand the forces, ideas, and institutions that shape our world. These resources include World101, a growing library of multimedia primers explaining the fundamentals of international relations and U.S. foreign policy; Model Diplomacy, a multimedia simulation program that invites participants to role-play in the context of National Security Council and UN Security Council meetings; and Convene the Council, an educational video game developed in collaboration with iCivics for ages 12 and up. These products come with an array of teaching resources and activities aimed at high school and college instructors and their students.   The Director, Education Marketing will support the Vice President, Education to develop and execute the marketing strategy for CFR Education. This position is based in the New York office on a hybrid basis. Founded in 1922, Foreign Affairs is the preeminent publication on international affairs and U.S. foreign policy. It is published by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), which is a leading independent, nonprofit membership organization and think tank dedicated to producing and disseminating foreign policy ideas.   This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced team dedicated to publishing expert analysis of current events. The Associate Editor will generate ideas and edits articles for the print edition and the website. The Associate Editor will also serve as the magazine’s digital production manager and homepage editor, ensuring on a daily basis that articles and other content are edited and staged on deadline and posted properly and on schedule.

The headquarters of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) is housed in the historic landmark Harold Pratt Mansion and state-of-the-art Peterson Conference Center. This combined space is used for several hundred meetings a year. The Associate Director of Building Engineering will report to the Deputy Director, Building Operations and Engineering. The position will be responsible for managing daily maintenance and repair of all building systems and equipment, as well as for managing the maintenance of the facilities overall appearance. This will include hands on maintenance and repair work on HVAC, boiler, heating, refrigeration, water, and energy systems, etc., managing vendor relations and preparing RFP’s and bid analysis and recommendations.

They will strengthen their research skills, gain experience in script writing for audio productions, and build their audio editing capabilities. The Council’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program works to advance the public debate on U.S. foreign policy and international affairs through its publications, meetings, and public outreach. Think Global Health is a CFR-sponsored online magazine that examines the ways that health shapes economies, societies, and everyday lives around the world. In its first three years of operation, the site published more than 700 articles from some 750 authors, representing over fifty-five countries on six continents, and attracted 4 million page views. Think Global Health has been nominated for two Webby awards. Major news outlets, such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, The Atlantic, BBC, and Vox, have shared and linked to Think Global Health articles and interviews. Under the direction of the Director of the Global Health Program, the Managing Editor will be responsible for managing the magazine’s operations and staff, including writing, soliciting, and editing content, coordinating the work of contributors, and promoting the site and its content.

The Building Maintenance Assistant, Facility and Event Operations will work in CFR’s Facility Operations department, and report directly to Deputy Director, Building Operations.   This is a full-time position, and the hours of this position are Monday through Friday 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. However, this position is considered essential personnel, and will be expected to work flexible hours upon request.

This particular internship will be an essential part of the team to support the fellow's book and op-ed research, and managing the new website. The intern will gain insights into the latest developments and debates on China policy.    CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.   Please note that all internships are offered on a hybrid (half in the office, half remote) or fully remote basis.
