The Council on Foreign Relations’s award-winning Digital Content department creates a mix of resources including in-depth explainers, timely analysis, interactives, podcasts, and videos. The team works closely with CFR experts to bring users insight on the most pressing foreign policy issues. The Senior Writer/Editor will work under the direction of the Managing Editor and Deputy Managing Editors and collaborate with other members of the CFR.org team and the think tank.

The Studies Program aims to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions. The Building Engineer, Facility and Event Operations will work in CFR’s Facility Operations department, and report directly to Deputy Director, Building Operations.   This is a full-time position, and the hours of this position are Sunday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and Monday through Thursday 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  However, this position is considered essential personnel, and will be expected to work flexible hours upon request.

Founded in 1922, Foreign Affairs is published by the Council on Foreign Relations, which is a leading independent, national membership organization and nonpartisan center for scholars dedicated to producing and disseminating foreign policy ideas. Foreign Affairs publishes insightful commentary on global politics, diplomacy, and economics from experts with a wide range of views.   Reporting to the Director of Marketing, the Marketing Coordinator role is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with content, brand, and promotional marketing operations for an influential and highly respected publication. This position plays a critical role in reader acquisition, retention, and engagement efforts across web, email, and traditional mail channels.

Founded in 1922, Foreign Affairs is the preeminent publication on international affairs and U.S. foreign policy. It is published by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), which is a leading independent, nonprofit membership organization and nonpartisan center dedicated to producing and disseminating foreign policy ideas. The Assistant Editor has substantial responsibilities and is involved in all aspects of Foreign Affairs’ editorial process. Previous assistant editors have gone on to careers in a variety of fields, including journalism, academia, and government. The position lasts for one year, starting as early as June. The position will be offered on a hybrid basis. The deadline to apply is February 3, 2023.

The Investment Operations Associate will partner closely with CFR’s investment team supporting the daily functioning of the group. The investment team is responsible for the oversight, management, and monitoring of the endowment assets as well as advising the Investment Committee in establishing risk and return objectives and investment policy. CFR is supported by a $530 million endowment portfolio which is allocated across 20+ external money managers investing in a diverse array of asset classes and strategies including global equity, hedge funds, and private investments.

The Deputy Director, Investment Operations will work closely with the Chief Investment Officer in maintaning operations and establishing process for the investment team. The Program Assistant will work under the direction of the Vice President of Meetings and Membership. The Membership team coordinates the selection process of new members, and serves as the front-facing department for CFR’s 5,000 members in order to enhance their member experience.

All who are selected to participate in CFR’s Blavatnik Internship Program and Robina Franklin Williams Internship Program receive training in the field of foreign policy and international affairs as well as skills training in writing, research, program planning and much more.   The Meetings Program seeks to achieve a mix of speakers and issues that respond to the interests of a diverse Council membership and constantly adjusts to the new issues shaping American foreign policy. The Meetings intern provides valuable support for the department in all aspects of meeting organization.   CFR internships are paid, require a 14 - 18 hour commitment, and are filled on a rolling basis.   CFR’s spring internship program gives interns the opportunity to choose whether to work in our office in a hybrid capacity (half in the office, and half remote), or on an offsite fully remote basis.
